Dress Code

TMTA Dress and Appearance Guidelines
for
Competitive and Non-Competitive Events

(DSD, Piano Festivals, Honors Recitals, Etc.)
.Girls
  • Need to wear knee length dresses.   Dress slacks and blouses or sweaters are acceptable.  Avoid plunging necklines and open-backed dresses or skirts with high side-slits.
Boys
  • Need to wear dress slacks with a collared button-down dress shirt, tucked in.  Coats and ties are optional.  No jeans of any kind are permitted.
All Students
  • Must wear dress shoes, no athletic shoes, or flip-flops are permitted.  For other questions regarding appropriateness, please consult your teacher. Shoes are especially important to the pianist for proper pedaling.

It is the responsibility of the teacher to see that the performer and his/her guardians are made aware of these requirements for proper dress.  If there is a dress code violation, the program director will address the situation on a case by case basis.

Download a copy of these guidelines here.
Diana Viltrakis (MTNA Antitrust Compliance Officer) and Gary Ingle (MTNA Executive Director, CEO) were consulted in early March.
